What is Longevity New York?+
Longevity New York is the free New York chapter of an international longevity community, open to anyone across the five boroughs who wants to stay healthy for longer. Members meet for talks, workshops and unhurried evenings about healthspan, prevention and what the ageing research currently supports. Nothing costs money, nobody applies, and no background is assumed. A resident from a teaching hospital might end up next to a designer who started reading about this in January. All dates run through the events feed, Meetup and the New York WhatsApp group.
Is Longevity New York a health club or a private members club?+
Neither. New York is full of paid clubs that sell a training floor, a sauna and a door policy, and Longevity New York has none of those. We hold no lease, own no equipment and collect no dues, so what is on offer is people and information rather than access. Members keep their own gym, studio or bathhouse habits and compare them at meetups. If what you want is a room with a cold plunge in it, the Spots map is the better tool. Joining us costs nothing either way.
Is there a longevity center in New York?+
New York has more of them than most countries, and Longevity New York is not one. Preventive medicine practices, executive physical clinics and diagnostic centers operate all over Manhattan, usually on an annual membership covering imaging, labs and a physician who reads the results with you. We hold no premises, employ no clinicians and take no bookings. What the community adds is the debrief afterwards, since members who paid will say whether the report changed anything. The Spots map lists local addresses to start from.
Where can I find a longevity doctor or a concierge clinic in NYC?+
We cannot make a referral, since Longevity New York offers no medical care and has nobody clinical on staff. The city has plenty of options: concierge internists, functional and preventive medicine practices, and hospital physicians who see longevity patients privately. Costs vary enormously, and so does the evidence behind what gets recommended, which is why members ask each other before booking anything. Our Spots map collects longevity friendly practices and labs with no medical vetting from us, and your own doctor remains the sensible first call.
Do you run a longevity program or coaching in New York?+
No programme, no coaches, nothing to enrol in. People searching for longevity programs in New York usually land on paid annual memberships, which is a different offer from ours. What we run is free and loosely structured by comparison: talks where you can question the speaker directly, workshops, and community challenges where a group tries one habit for a few weeks and reports back. Add the free bilingual guides and the biological age tool on this site, and you can assemble your own version without paying anyone.
What longevity events and meetups happen in New York?+
Three formats carry the New York calendar: meetups built around conversation, expert talks with a clinician or a researcher, and workshops where you try the thing being discussed. Sleep, bloodwork, training, nutrition and biological age come round again in different hands each time. The city also hosts paid longevity summits and conference weeks, which some members attend and then summarise for everyone else at the next meetup. Ours are free, and dates go up in the events feed, on Meetup and in the WhatsApp group.
Is Longevity New York free?+
Yes. Membership is free and almost every event is free to attend, which counts for something in a city where a single fitness class can cost more than lunch. There is no paid tier, no annual fee and no upsell arriving three emails later. Occasionally a venue charges entry or a lab charges for a test, and that cost is passed through unchanged and named in the listing before you sign up. Guides, the events feed and the biological age tool cost nothing at all.
How do I join Longevity New York?+
Three ways, all of them immediate: open a free account here, join the New York WhatsApp group, or simply come to the next event. There is no form to fill in and nobody decides whether you qualify. WhatsApp is where things move first, including last minute room changes, which in this city do happen. If you would rather observe for a while, Instagram and LinkedIn carry the same announcements. Turning up alone is the norm, and most people leave having talked to four or five strangers.
Where can I test my biological age in New York (DEXA, VO2max, bloodwork)?+
New York is saturated with DEXA scanners, VO2max labs and extended blood panels, sold through performance labs, sports medicine practices and diagnostic clinics, so the harder question is what you do with the numbers afterwards. We run no testing and earn nothing from anyone who does. The free biological age tool on this site gives a rough first read before you spend money. Members compare prices and results openly across Manhattan and Brooklyn, and the Spots map marks labs and studios you can look at yourself.
Do you recommend gyms, bathhouses or cold plunge studios in New York?+
As an organisation we recommend nothing, and no venue pays to appear on our site. New York has a deep recovery culture, from the old Russian and Turkish baths in the East Village to the newer bathhouses in Williamsburg and the large spa complexes out in Queens, plus more strength gyms than any one person could try. The Spots map lists places members have mentioned, as a starting point rather than an endorsement, and nothing there is medically checked by us. Personal opinions circulate freely in the group.
Does Longevity New York cover Brooklyn, Queens and Jersey City?+
The chapter covers the metro area rather than one borough. Most events land in Manhattan because that is what people can reach after work, meetups run in Brooklyn as the group there grows, and members commute in from Queens, Jersey City and Hoboken without much trouble. Subway access usually decides a venue more than the neighbourhood does. The Spots map spans the same area, so a lab in Midtown and a sauna in Greenpoint sit on the same screen.
Is there real longevity research happening in New York?+
Yes, and some of it is among the longest running work in the field. The Longevity Genes Project at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx has followed centenarians and their children for decades, while Mount Sinai and Columbia publish on biological ageing. Longevity New York has no formal tie to any of these institutions. In practice it means researchers live here, sometimes come and speak at an event, and are usually the first people in the room to say where the evidence stops.
