What is Longevity Seattle?

Longevity Seattle is a free, science-based community for people around Puget Sound who want to add healthy years. The city already has the habit: half the north end is circling Green Lake before work, the Burke-Gilman Trail fills the moment the rain lets off, and there is enough ageing research at the University of Washington and Fred Hutch to keep the conversation honest. Winter is the harder half of the year here, which is why sleep, daylight and vitamin D come up more often than any supplement.

The calendar is meetups, expert talks and workshops, all free. The same questions return every few months: how to read a standard blood panel, what a DEXA scan (an X-ray measure of fat, muscle and bone density) actually tells you, how to train VO2max without a coach, what heavy strength work does for bone after fifty, and how to keep training through a dark, wet January. Community challenges run for a few weeks at a time when people want the structure.

None of this is a clinic. We are a free community with no premises, no lab, no treatments and nothing to sell, and we share neither name nor ownership with any private longevity practice in the region. Seattle and the Eastside have plenty of private supply: age-management practices, naturopathic clinics with a longevity angle, hormone and infusion providers, body composition studios and bone density scanning. Members compare what they paid with what they got out of it, which is often the most useful half hour of an evening. The community Spots map keeps a list of local labs, gyms and studios, gathered by members rather than medically vetted by us.

Who turns up: software and biotech people with years of tracked data, physical therapists, a few clinicians, parents in their forties reworking their training, and beginners whose last blood draw was an annual physical. A free account, the WhatsApp group or the next event all get you in, with no application step. Events run in English.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity Seattle?+
Longevity Seattle is the free Seattle chapter of an international longevity community, open to anyone who wants more healthy years. Meetups, expert talks and workshops cover healthspan, prevention, training and the measurements people keep asking about. The room runs from software and biotech folks with years of tracked data to clinicians, physical therapists and people who have never looked at their own lab results. Nothing costs anything, there is no application and nobody expects prior knowledge. Most people arrive through the events feed, the WhatsApp group or a friend who dragged them along.
Is Longevity Seattle a health club or a paid longevity club?+
Neither. Longevity Seattle is a free community group, so there is no facility, no class schedule and no monthly charge on your card. A health club sells you a building and the equipment inside it, which plenty of members happily pay for elsewhere. What happens here is people meeting, comparing notes and listening to someone who knows a topic properly. If you searched for a health club in Seattle and want somewhere to lift or swim, the Spots map lists gyms and studios that members rate, with no endorsement from us.
Is there a longevity center in Seattle?+
Private longevity and anti-aging centres do operate in Seattle and around the Eastside, and Longevity Seattle is not one of them. Their model is usually private pay: a long intake, an extended panel, imaging or body composition, then a plan you follow with a clinician. We hold no medical services and take no bookings. The value on our side is unfiltered experience, since somebody who spent four figures on a programme will tell a room of strangers whether it changed anything, which is a different kind of information from a service brochure.
Are you the same thing as the Longevity Medical Clinic in Seattle?+
No. Longevity Seattle is a free community with no medical licence, no premises and no connection to any practice that carries a similar name, the Longevity Medical Clinic included. The mix-up happens often, because several private providers around Seattle, Kirkland, Lynnwood and Tacoma trade under names of that kind. If you are looking for care, contact them directly or start with your own physician. If you are looking for people to think the topic through with, and for talks that cost nothing, that part is us.
Where can I find a longevity doctor or anti-aging clinic in Seattle?+
Seattle has a decent spread of options, none of which we refer you to, because a community cannot prescribe or treat. You will find age-management practices, naturopathic clinics with a longevity angle, hormone and infusion providers, and physicians doing preventive work inside conventional care. Standards vary, and so does pricing, so ask what follow-up appointments cost before booking the first one. At meetups people say who they have seen and why they stayed or moved on, and the Spots map gathers addresses members have actually visited.
Does Longevity Seattle offer coaching, programmes or personalised plans?+
No coaching, no programme and no plan with your name on it. The community works the other way round: free talks from people who know their subject, members describing one experiment that worked and two that went nowhere, bilingual guides on the site and a free biological age tool you can run yourself. Coaches and trainers in Seattle do sell that service and some members book them. We stay out of it, take no referral fee and have nothing to sell you at the end of an evening.
Where can I get a DEXA scan, body composition or bone density test in Seattle?+
Seattle is one of the easier US cities for this. Walk-in and mobile DEXA providers handle body composition and bone density without a referral, several fitness labs run VO2max and resting metabolic rate testing, and a standard bone density scan can also come through your own physician, often cheaper with insurance. We operate no scanner and take no commission from anyone who does. What the community adds is the follow-up question: what would you change because of that number, and when would you measure again.
Can I test my biological age in Seattle, and what do those tests measure?+
Yes, mostly through epigenetic kits sold online and through some private practices in the area, which read chemical marks on your DNA and convert them into an age estimate. Treat the number with care: results shift between labs, and one reading says less than a trend across several years. Cheaper signals often tell you more, such as grip strength, resting heart rate, a lipid panel and how you actually sleep. The free tool on this site gives you a starting estimate, and members will gladly argue about their own results with you.
What longevity meetups and events happen in Seattle?+
Free meetups, expert talks and hands-on workshops, spread across the year and announced in the events feed. Topics follow whatever people are stuck on: sleep and the long dark stretch from November onwards, training that survives a wet commute, protein and eating well without a kitchen scale, bloodwork, and whichever wearable is being oversold this quarter. Venues move rather than staying in one place, so an evening might sit near South Lake Union one month and on Capitol Hill the next.
Is Longevity Seattle free?+
Yes. Membership costs nothing and almost every event is free to attend, which is deliberate in a field where one annual programme can cost more than a used car. There is no paid tier, no trial that quietly converts and no payment details stored in your account. Occasionally a format carries a small charge because a room or an instructor has to be covered, and the event page states that clearly beforehand. Guides, the community feed and the biological age tool stay open to every account.
How do I join Longevity Seattle?+
Sign up for a free account, join the Seattle WhatsApp group, or come to the next event and say hello at the door. All three lead to the same place and none of them involves being approved by anyone. New faces show up at almost every event, so arriving on your own is ordinary rather than awkward. Bring someone if that is easier. If you would rather contribute than only attend, suggesting a speaker or offering a room is always welcome.
Does Longevity Seattle cover Bellevue, Redmond and Tacoma?+
Yes, the chapter is for the wider Puget Sound region rather than the city limits. Members come across Lake Washington from Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland, up from Tacoma and down from Everett, so events are usually placed where transit and parking work for both sides of the bridges. The Spots map covers the Eastside and the south end as well as Seattle itself. Taking part costs nothing wherever you live, and a good number of people only make it to every third or fourth event.
